Studies have been done that the active ingredient in turmeric curcumin or diferuloyl methane, has shown to have anticancer effects on cancer cells. An international study demonstrated that turmeric given to patients getting chemotherapy for bowel cancer did better than those who did not receive turmeric. More studies need to be done to definitely determine if turmeric is a cure for cancer. Many believe that cancer has an autoimmune component.
